How to help your hair not turn orange this summer

As the summer season approaches I thought it was a good idea that I just remind you how to look after your hair extensions so you can keep them looking fabulous all through the hot months.

Here are some tips that will help you maintain your hair extensions during summer:

1. Keep your hair hydrated

The summer heat can make your hair dry and brittle, so it's crucial to keep your hair hydrated. Use a leave-in conditioner to keep your hair moisturised and soft.

2. Protect your hair from the sun & suncream

The sun can cause damage to your hair extensions, so it's important to protect them. Wear a hat or scarf to shield your hair from direct sunlight when you're out in the sun.

Chemical reactions can occur with sun cream and hair extensions due to the ingredients present in sunscreens. Sunscreens contain chemicals like oxybenzone, avobenzone, and octinoxate, which can react with the hair extensions, causing them to change colour this is normally a orangy/pinky shade we recommend if your hair is lighter that you purchase a mailbu hard water sachet to take away just incase of colour change as this will remove any impurities from your hair that has caused the reaction. These or available to buy in salon or I will link them above

3. Avoid chlorine and saltwater

Chlorine and saltwater can cause damage to your hair extensions, so it's best to avoid them. If you're planning to swim, coat your hair in conditioner and tie your hair up and make sure to wash as soon as you come out of the water do not let your hair dry in.

4. Use the right products

Use hair products that are designed for hair extensions. Avoid using products that contain alcohol or sulphates, as they can dry out your hair.

5. Brush your hair gently

Brush your hair extensions gently to prevent them from getting tangled. Use a wide-tooth comb or a soft-bristled brush to detangle your hair.

I hope these tips will help you take care of your hair extensions during summer. If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to reach out to us.

Happy hair days Karyn & Megan
