Can I get hair extensions when pregnant

Let's explore what happens to hair when your having a baby!

When a woman is pregnant, her body goes through a lot of changes because of the hormones. Some women notice that their hair becomes thicker and grows better, while others may find that their hair gets thinner.

Our hair has a life cycle with different phases. The first phase is called the Anagen phase, where the hair grows actively for 3-5 years. After that, there's a short transition phase called the Catagen Phase, where about 3% of hairs are taking a break. The Telogen Phase is like a resting period for 10-15% of hairs, and then there's the Exogen Phase, where individual hairs are released and fall out, starting the cycle again.

Now, during pregnancy, some women experience really nice, thick hair because their hair stays in the growing phase longer. This happens because of a hormone called oestrogen. After pregnancy, when oestrogen levels go back to normal, some extra hairs move to a resting phase and fall out more than usual. This usually starts around 3 months after the baby is born, but if the mom is breastfeeding, it might happen later.

Hair extensions are perfectly safe to use while pregnant but we may ask to see you sooner for your refits after your baby is born so we can ensure that the extensions aren't putting any additional pressure on your hair while it is shedding more that it normally would.
